Press Visits & Other Resources
Here's practical information to help you plan a press trip or your story
about the aquarium.
Assistance for Visiting Media
We'll assist with story development and logistics, even help with suggestions and access to resources if you're covering other aspects of the story in the Monterey area. We can also provide digital images and broadcast-quality video for use with your story. Contact the Public Relations staff.
Passes for Visiting Media
We offer free admission to working journalists on assignment. Contact our Public Relations staff in advance of your visit to make arrangements.
News Releases by Email
We send news releases and updates to journalists, on an opt-in basis. You can choose which releases you want to receive, based on topics you cover (travel, science, conservation and more). You can sign up now.
Photo and Video Guidelines
All aquarium visitors can take photos and video for their private, personal use only. Taking photos or video, including for stock images and other commercial purposes, is prohibited unless authorized in advance by the Public Relations department. There are also some restrictions on use of tripods and supplemental lighting. If you’re planning a photo or video shoot as part of a story about the aquarium, please review our Photo and Video Guidelines, then contact the Public Relationsdepartment in advance to make arrangements.
Stock Photos
It’s not a priority for us, but we can provide stock photos of marine life — on a fee basis — for book and magazine projects. We have images available that are not included in our Pressroom Photo Library. Contact Ken Peterson regarding stock photo image requests. See our instructions for requesting images.
Location Shoots at the Aquarium
On a case-by-case basis we’ll consider requests to film scenes for a movie, TV show or commercial, or to photograph an advertisement at the aquarium. We charge fees for location shooting; see our Location Guidelines for details.
